I work for a financial institution and am involved in SOE and software deployment activities. We run a "locked down" SOE where "normal" users have limited access to modify files and settings on their machine. They are not able to install software for themselves.
We are currently trying to package DOLS/Domino Synch Manager (for controlled/automated deployment later down the track), but have hit the following stumbling blocks:
1 - The "Install Subscription" process checks that the current user has "Read and Execute" permissions to "C:". Could this check be modified to something more specific to iNotes? e.g. "C:\Program Files\Lotus iNotes". We could conceivably grant users the required access rights to "C:", but this would jeopardise the security of the SOE.
2 - The "Install Subscription" process generates and/or modifies files and folders inside:
"C:\Program Files\Lotus iNotes\"
"C:\Program Files\Lotus iNotes\DOLS\"
"C:\Program Files\Lotus iNotes\data\"
Could this behaviour be modified to redirect the files to be written to other (user specific) locations (again so that users need not be granted access to "system" locations)?
3 - The "Install Subscription" process generates "Uninstall Lotus Domino Synch Manager" and "Lotus Domino Synch Manager Help" shortcuts in the start menu. Can this be turned off? (We wish to control explicitly which applications shortcuts are available to each user)
Thanks
Tim
